What is Juvelook, and why do people get it in Seoul?

Juvelook is a Korean injectable that mixes PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) microspheres with non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin early, while the PDLLA prompts your body to build its own collagen over the following weeks. In Seoul, Juvelook is used for texture, fine lines and mild hollows, usually as a short course of sessions.

Juvelook vs Juvelook Volume: what’s the difference?

They come from the same Korean maker and use the same two ingredients, but in different amounts and at different depths. Think of standard Juvelook as a skin-quality treatment and Juvelook Volume as a collagen stimulator for areas that have flattened.

Juvelook Juvelook Volume
Per vial About 42.5 mg PDLLA + 7.5 mg hyaluronic acid 170 mg PDLLA + 30 mg hyaluronic acid
Where it goes Shallow, into the skin Deeper, into fat and above the bone
Used for Texture, fine lines, crepey skin, mild under-eye hollows Deeper folds, flattened areas, contour

Juvelook Volume is sold as Lenisna in some markets. If a clinic recommends “Juvelook,” ask which one. The two are priced, injected and planned differently.

Who is Juvelook for, and who should skip it?

It tends to suit people with early thinning, dull or uneven texture, fine lines, or mild volume loss who are happy to wait for a gradual change. It also suits people who want a softer, more even look rather than a new shape.

It is the wrong choice if you want an instant, visible lift on the day, or if you have significant sagging. A collagen stimulator cannot replace surgery for loose skin.

Tell the doctor, and expect them to say no or wait, if you:

  • are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • have an active skin infection, cold sore or acne flare in the area
  • have a history of keloids or raised scars
  • are allergic to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine
  • have an autoimmune condition or take immune-suppressing drugs or steroids
  • have recently taken oral isotretinoin, or take blood thinners

Juvelook vs Sculptra: how is PDLLA different from PLLA?

This is the most common question, and the chemistry explains a lot. Sculptra uses PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid), which is semi-crystalline. Juvelook uses PDLLA, which is amorphous and breaks down faster. Under a microscope, Juvelook’s particles are smooth spheres of about 30 micrometers, while Sculptra’s are irregular, sheet-like pieces of about 50 micrometers. Researchers think smoother particles may provoke less inflammation, but that has not been proven to mean fewer nodules in people.

In a small split-face trial on smile lines, Juvelook Volume did as well as Sculptra at 24 weeks. That is one study of 33 people, so treat it as encouraging, not settled.

Juvelook Sculptra Hyaluronic acid filler
Main ingredient PDLLA + hyaluronic acid PLLA + carboxymethylcellulose Cross-linked hyaluronic acid
When you see it Some hydration early, collagen over weeks Gradual, over months Immediately
Dissolvable with hyaluronidase? No (the PDLLA part) No Yes
Regulatory note CE marked in Europe (2020) FDA approved in the US Many brands FDA approved

The practical takeaway: hyaluronic acid filler gives shape now and can be dissolved. Juvelook and Sculptra work slowly and cannot be dissolved, so the dose and placement matter more.

How is Juvelook done in Seoul?

The clinic photographs your face, agrees the areas with you, and applies numbing cream. The powder is mixed with sterile water, and often lidocaine, before injection. Standard Juvelook goes in shallowly across the treated area with a fine needle or cannula. Juvelook Volume goes deeper into specific areas.

Ask the clinic what aftercare they want, including whether to massage. PDLLA lumps can come from how product settles, and massage advice differs by product and area. Follow the instructions you are given, not what you read online.

Juvelook is one of several PDLLA fillers in Korea. If you want Juvelook in Seoul specifically, say so at booking and confirm the clinic stocks it.

How many sessions do you need, and how does that fit a trip?

Most plans are 2–3 sessions. The published Juvelook Volume trial used three sessions four weeks apart. Collagen keeps building after you go home, so the end result shows up weeks to months later, not in Seoul.

  1. Short trip: one session in Seoul, then decide on more later. One session still counts, but expect a modest change.
  2. Stay of 4+ weeks: session 1 early, session 2 before you leave.
  3. Regular visitor: line sessions up with future trips.

If you want a visible difference before a specific event, Juvelook is a poor fit for that timeline.

Downtime, side effects and the nodule risk

  • Small bumps along the injection points and mild swelling for a few days. In the Juvelook Volume trial, swelling lasted 3–4 days.
  • Pinpoint bruising, which can last up to a week.
  • Tenderness at injection sites.

The risk to take seriously is nodules: small, firm lumps under the skin. Published reports on PDLLA describe them as rare. Some are simply product that has collected in one spot. Others are linked to infection, inflammation or granulomas, and can appear anywhere from weeks to years after treatment. Because PDLLA does not respond to hyaluronidase, treatment can mean steroid injections or other steps, and occasionally surgical removal. This is why injector experience matters more than the brand.

Before you fly home, ask the clinic how they will handle a lump that appears after you leave, and get your treatment record in writing.

What decides the price of Juvelook in Seoul?

Juvelook prices in Seoul vary more than people expect, because “one session” can mean very different amounts of product. What moves the price: standard Juvelook or Juvelook Volume, how many vials are used, how much each vial is diluted, how many areas are treated, and whether numbing, a soothing mask or LED is bundled. A course priced as a package will look different from a single session. Ask for the product name, number of vials and dilution in writing, so you can compare two quotes like for like.

FAQ

Is Juvelook a filler or a skin booster?

Somewhere in between. Standard Juvelook is used like a booster to improve skin quality. Juvelook Volume is used more like a collagen-stimulating filler for areas that have lost volume.

How soon will I see Juvelook results?

You may notice some hydration early from the hyaluronic acid. The collagen effect from PDLLA builds over the following weeks and months, so most of the change appears after you are home.

Is Juvelook better than Sculptra?

Not clearly. One small trial found Juvelook Volume performed as well as Sculptra for smile lines. The bigger difference is the injector’s skill and the dose, not the brand.

Can Juvelook be dissolved if I don’t like it?

No. Hyaluronidase dissolves hyaluronic acid filler, but it does not break down PDLLA. That is why careful dosing and placement matter.

Can I get Juvelook and fly home soon after?

Many people do, since bumps and swelling usually settle within a few days. Book it early in your trip if you can, and ask the clinic how they handle any lump that appears after you leave.
