Someone on your side, from first question to final check-up

A patient advocate is an experienced coordinator who represents your interests during cosmetic surgery in Korea. At SCS, advocacy is the centre of what we do. We help you prepare for consultations, understand what each surgeon recommends, compare plans fairly, and make sure your concerns are communicated clearly. The medical decisions belong to you and your surgeon; our job is to make sure you can make them well.

Why advocacy matters when you travel for surgery

Consultations in Seoul are often short, held in a second language, and scheduled close together. Many patients tell us afterwards that they forgot to ask something important, or were unsure whether two clinics were recommending the same thing. An advocate closes that gap.

What our advocacy includes

  1. Before you arrive. We review your goals, photos and medical history with you, and help you write the questions that matter for your procedure.
  2. At each consultation. Your coordinator attends with you, interprets, asks your prepared questions, and notes the surgeon’s answers so you have a record afterwards.
  3. Comparing treatment plans. If you see more than one surgeon, we set the plans side by side: the technique proposed, what is included, anesthesia, recovery time, follow-up and total cost. Where recommendations differ, we help you understand why and what to ask next.
  4. Making sure you are heard. If something worries you, such as a technique, a timeline or how a result might look, we raise it with the clinic and make sure you get a clear answer.
  5. Follow-up questions. Questions often come up the evening after a consultation. We take them back to the clinic before you decide.
  6. Surgery day and recovery. We are with you on the day, coordinate your post-operative appointments, and remain your point of contact with the clinic after you return home, for as long as you need us.

If you are travelling alone

Many of our patients travel on their own. For solo travellers we accompany you to every appointment, check in with you daily on WhatsApp, collect your prescriptions and aftercare supplies, help arrange your accommodation, and book taxis whenever you need them. Airport pickup and drop-off are included when your treatments total US$5,000 or more. You will have a named coordinator you can reach on WhatsApp, 24/7 during your stay.

What advocacy is not

We do not give medical advice, and we will never pressure you to book. If you decide not to go ahead after your consultations, that is a good outcome too. There is no service fee; if your treatments total less than US$5,000, including if you do not go ahead, the US$300 booking deposit is retained as our coordination fee, as set out on our fees page.

Frequently asked questions

What is a plastic surgery patient advocate? A patient advocate is a coordinator who represents your interests during consultations and treatment. They help you prepare questions, communicate your concerns and understand the options, while medical decisions remain with you and your surgeon.

Is your advocate employed by the clinic? No. SCS is an independent, government-registered facilitation agency (Reg. A-2016-01-01-2642). Patients pay us no service fee; we are paid by our partner clinics, and we are open about that so you can weigh our advice accordingly.

Can I compare more than one clinic? Yes. We regularly arrange consultations with two or three surgeons so you can compare plans before deciding.

Will my coordinator speak English? Yes. Your coordinator interprets at every consultation and appointment. Interpretation is also available in Spanish, French and Hindi.

What if I have a problem after I return home? Contact your coordinator. We will relay your questions and photos to your clinic and help arrange follow-up. There is no time limit on this support.

Do I have to book surgery after a consultation? No. Consultations are for you to gather information and decide in your own time.
