Cheapest Countries for Plastic Surgery: How South Korea Compares on Price and Quality

Which country is cheapest for plastic surgery?

On sticker price, Turkey, Mexico, Thailand and Colombia usually quote lowest. South Korea is mid-priced, typically above those but well below US surgeon fees for many procedures. The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest trip. Flights, length of stay, what the quote leaves out and revision risk decide the real total.

Where the main destinations sit

Destination Price position Known for What to check
Turkey Usually lowest quotes Hair transplants, rhinoplasty, BBL packages High-volume “package” clinics; who actually operates
Mexico Low; short flight for US patients Body contouring, BBL, breast Facility accreditation; recovery-house standards
Thailand Low to mid Gender-affirming surgery, breast, face Surgeon specialisation by procedure
Colombia Low Body contouring Same as Mexico
South Korea Mid Eyes, nose, facial contouring, skin Ghost surgery; ask for the named operating surgeon
United States Highest Home-country follow-up care ASPS fees are surgeon-only; facility and anesthesia are extra

Why Korea isn’t the cheapest, and when it still wins

Korea’s price sits in the middle for the same reason it attracts patients: specialisation. Seoul has surgeons who do only eyes, only noses, or only facial bone surgery, at high volume. That pays off most for:

  • Facial bone contouring (V-line, zygoma). See why Korea leads in facial contouring.
  • Asian and East-Asian-style eyelid and nose work, and revision of it.
  • Skin and laser treatments, where Korean device pricing is widely lower than in the West.

If you want a BBL, Korea is not the obvious choice on price or specialty. We’d tell you that in a consultation too.

Five costs that make a “cheap” quote expensive

  1. Length of stay. Rhinoplasty or contouring needs 10–14 days near the clinic. Hotel nights add up faster than surgical savings.
  2. What’s excluded. Anesthesia, tests, medication, garments, follow-ups. Get the quote itemised. See what a clinic quote leaves out.
  3. Revision policy. Who pays, and do you have to fly back?
  4. Flights. Mexico is a short hop from the US; Korea and Turkey are long-haul.
  5. Your aftercare at home. Will a local surgeon see you if something goes wrong?

How to compare countries fairly

Pick one procedure, then for each destination write down: the named surgeon, their case volume for that procedure, the itemised quote, the days you need to stay, and the revision terms. Comparing countries by “average price” is how people end up choosing on the least important number.

FAQ

What is the cheapest country for plastic surgery?

Turkey, Mexico, Thailand and Colombia usually quote the lowest prices. The cheapest total trip depends on the procedure, the length of stay and what each quote includes.

Is South Korea cheap for plastic surgery?

Korea is mid-priced: usually above Turkey or Mexico, and below US surgeon fees for many procedures. Its advantage is specialisation more than price.

Is the cheapest country also the safest?

Not necessarily. Safety depends on the individual surgeon, the facility and aftercare, not the country average. Ask for the named surgeon and their volume for your procedure.

What should I compare besides price?

The named surgeon, their case volume for your procedure, an itemised quote, how long you need to stay, and the revision policy.
