What are Seoul’s newer lifting lasers, and how do they differ?
Titanium, Oligio, Onda, Density and Xerf are devices Seoul clinics use to tighten mildly loose skin without surgery. Only Titanium is a true laser, a three-wavelength diode. Oligio, Density and Xerf use radiofrequency energy, and Onda uses microwaves. All heat tissue so it tightens and builds collagen. Results are gradual and modest, with little downtime.
The five devices at a glance
| Device | Maker | Energy | What it’s designed to heat | Usually quoted by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Titanium | Alma (Israel) | Diode laser, 755 + 810 + 1064 nm at once | Several depths of the skin | Shots or session (ask) |
| Oligio | Wontech (Korea) | Monopolar radiofrequency, 6.78 MHz | Deeper skin layers | Shots |
| Density | Jeisys (Korea) | Monopolar + bipolar radiofrequency, 6.78 MHz | Deep and shallow layers in one session | Shots |
| Xerf | Cynosure Lutronic | Monopolar radiofrequency, 6.78 + 2 MHz combined | Skin, superficial fat and deeper support layers | Shots |
| Onda | DEKA (Italy) | Microwaves, 2.45 GHz | Deep skin and fat | Total energy in kilojoules (kJ) |
Korean clinics call all of these “lifting lasers,” but the technology matters when you compare them. They are cousins of the better-known devices covered in our Thermage vs Ultherapy guide, not replacements for them.
What is Titanium lifting, and what does it actually do?
Titanium lifting in Korea uses the Soprano Titanium, a diode laser that Alma originally built for hair removal. It fires 755, 810 and 1064 nm wavelengths at the same time from one handpiece. Korean dermatologists developed a lifting protocol for it, and in 2026 Alma launched its own version in North America, describing it as a deep dermal heating protocol that originated in Korea.
The handpiece has continuous contact cooling, and the maker describes a session of about 20 minutes. It is best thought of as a skin-quality and mild-tightening treatment, often repeated monthly, rather than a deep lift. Independent clinical trials on Titanium lifting are thin so far, so be wary of dramatic claims.
Oligio, Density and Xerf: how do the three radiofrequency devices differ?
All three are Korean-developed or Korean-launched devices that heat the deeper skin with radiofrequency while cooling the surface.
- Oligio, made in Korea by Wontech, is a 6.78 MHz monopolar device. Its first version received US FDA 510(k) clearance in 2022 for electrocoagulation and hemostasis of soft tissue. That is a general clearance, not a specific approval for lifting. A newer version, Oligio X, has also been cleared.
- Density (Jeisys), often sold as Density lifting in Korea, delivers monopolar energy for depth and bipolar energy for thinner layers in one session, with cryogen gas cooling. It has separate tips for the face, the eye area and the body.
- Xerf (Cynosure Lutronic) launched in Korea in 2024, and the maker says Xerf lifting passed 2,000 installed units worldwide within two years. It combines two frequencies, 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz, so one pulse reaches several depths. The maker recommends two sessions 4–6 weeks apart, then maintenance once or twice a year.
On paper, the differences are about depth control, cooling and comfort. In practice, the clinic’s settings and shot count matter at least as much as the device.
What is Onda lifting?
Onda lifting in Seoul uses microwaves at 2.45 GHz. The maker says they are absorbed mainly by fat, while also heating the deep skin. It was first used for body contouring. In Korea it is sold mainly for face tightening, and the maker developed a smaller “Pocket” handpiece that works at about 3 mm depth for the face and under the chin.
Because microwaves also heat fat, ask whether the plan aims to tighten or to slim. On a face that is already lean, losing fat may not be what you want.
Who suits these devices, and who should not have them?
They suit people with mild laxity: early jowls, a softening jawline, or crepey skin. The American Academy of Dermatology notes that if you have a lot of sagging skin, skin tightening may not help. In that case a facelift consultation is the honest next step.
Skip or delay treatment if you:
- are pregnant or breastfeeding
- have a skin infection or open wound in the area
- take certain medications (tell the doctor everything you use)
- have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, or metal implants in the treatment area
Pain, downtime and risks
Expect heat, and sometimes sharp hot spots. Xerf’s maker says most patients report little discomfort, and clinics often offer numbing cream anyway. Everyone’s tolerance differs.
- Downtime: little or none. Redness and mild swelling usually fade within hours to a day or two.
- Results: some firmness can show early, but collagen takes time. The AAD says the best results from radiofrequency show at about 6 months.
- Risks: burns or blisters from too much energy, temporary numbness or tenderness, and, with Onda, occasional firm lumps that usually settle over weeks.
Most people can fly the next day. If you have any blistering, ask the clinic to check it before you leave.
How do clinics combine them, and how do you compare quotes?
Seoul clinics often pair a device that works deeper with one that works closer to the surface in one visit, for example Onda with Titanium. Some also add an ultrasound device such as Shurink. Combining is normal, but it should be a plan for your face, not a bundle.
To compare quotes fairly:
- Get the unit. Radiofrequency devices are priced by shots. Onda is priced by kilojoules, for example 60 kJ vs 90 kJ.
- Check the tip. A face tip and an eye tip are different cartridges.
- Ask who treats you. Doctor or technician, and how many passes.
- Confirm the device name. “Oligio” and “Oligio X” are different machines.
What decides the price of a lifting laser session in Seoul?
Prices for these devices in Seoul move with four things: the device, the dose (shots for radiofrequency, kilojoules for Onda), the area (full face, eyes, neck or under the chin), and what is bundled, such as numbing, a second device or a soothing mask. A quote that looks cheap often has fewer shots or a smaller area. Ask for the device, dose and area in writing so you can compare two clinics like for like.

FAQ
Which lifting laser is best?
None is best for everyone. For mild laxity, the radiofrequency devices (Oligio, Density, Xerf) and Onda all aim to tighten. Titanium leans more toward skin quality. The doctor’s settings and dose matter as much as the brand.
Is Titanium lifting a real laser?
Yes. It uses a diode laser that fires 755, 810 and 1064 nm wavelengths together. Oligio, Density and Xerf are radiofrequency devices, and Onda uses microwaves.
How long do results last?
It varies by device, skin and age. Results build over months. Xerf’s maker, for example, suggests maintenance once or twice a year.
Can I have a lifting laser and fly home the next day?
Usually yes. Redness and mild swelling are the common side effects, and they rarely stop you flying. Ask the clinic to check any blistering before you leave.
How many sessions do I need?
Often one session per trip, with repeats every few months to a year. Some protocols, such as Titanium, are designed to be repeated monthly.
