What makes a deep plane facelift different from other facelifts?

A deep plane facelift lifts and repositions the deeper facial structures responsible for sagging, including the midface, nasolabial folds, and jawline. Unlike traditional facelifts that tighten the skin or pull the SMAS, the deep plane method works beneath this layer, releasing key ligaments to restore youthful volume and natural contour without creating tension. The result is a remarkably natural, long-lasting rejuvenation of 10–15 years. Korea is recognized for its refined techniques, advanced anatomical precision, and elegant aesthetic outcomes, making it a global destination for deep plane surgery.

Medical Tourism Basics

How long should I stay in Seoul after cosmetic surgery?

Most visitors stay in Seoul for seven to ten days after facial cosmetic procedures because swelling, taping removal, and follow up checks are usually needed during this period. Rhinoplasty, facelift, and fat grafting often need at least one week for early recovery and monitoring. Body procedures such as liposuction may need ten to fourteen days for bruising and compression checks. Non surgical treatments usually need one to two days.

See more guidance
What is the best time of year to visit Korea for treatments?

Spring and autumn offer mild temperatures and comfortable humidity, which many visitors prefer for recovery. Winter is popular for surgery because people tend to spend more time indoors. Summer is the busiest season for dermatology treatments but higher humidity may increase swelling for some procedures. Clinics operate year round, so timing should match your schedule and recovery preference.

See more guidance
How much do procedures usually cost in Korea?

Costs vary by procedure type, complexity, and the experience of the medical team. Most clinics in Korea provide clear itemized quotations after consultation, which include the procedure fee, anesthesia, operating facility use, and follow up visits. Combined surgeries or longer operations may cost more. Travel and accommodation are priced separately.

See more guidance
What are helpful travel tips for medical visitors?

Comfortable clothing, light meals, and short walking distances support early recovery. Book accommodation near your clinic to minimize travel time. Allow enough days for follow up checks and avoid heavy lifting or long outings during the first days of healing. Many visitors plan simple indoor activities until swelling settles.

See more guidance
Where should I stay during recovery in Seoul?

Areas such as Gangnam, Sinsa, and Apgujeong offer easy access to major clinics and pharmacies. Many visitors choose serviced residences or modern apartments for comfort and privacy during recovery. Staying close to your clinic reduces travel time for follow up visits and helps with convenience in the first few days.

Consultation, Treatment Day, and Recovery

What should I expect during a consultation in Korea?

Korean consultations focus on understanding your goals, assessing facial or body structure, and reviewing your suitability. Doctors examine your features, discuss methods, and explain realistic outcomes with expected recovery. Many clinics use imaging tools to show predicted changes. Clear communication is a core part of the process.

See more guidance
What happens on treatment or surgery day?

On treatment day you check in, review your goals, and confirm the planned approach with the doctor. Surgical cases include precise markings for symmetry. After the procedure nurses monitor you, explain aftercare instructions, and schedule follow up visits. Most patients return to their accommodation the same day unless the clinic keeps them briefly for monitoring.

See more guidance
What is the typical recovery timeline for Korean procedures?

Most facial surgeries have noticeable swelling for five to seven days, with refinement over the next several weeks. Eyelid procedures settle faster. Rhinoplasty swelling lasts longer but is socially acceptable within one week. Body procedures may involve soreness and bruising for ten to fourteen days. Dermatology treatments often need one to three days for mild redness to calm.

See more guidance
How does swelling progress after cosmetic treatment?

Swelling usually peaks during the first two or three days and then steadily reduces. By day seven most patients feel comfortable being outdoors. Structural surgeries like rhinoplasty and deep plane facelift may have mild residual swelling for longer. Head elevation and gentle rest help the process.

See more guidance
When is revision surgery necessary?

Revision surgery is considered when previous results show asymmetry, under correction, or over correction. Doctors evaluate healing, scar tissue, and structural support before proposing a revision plan. Timing depends on how the tissue has settled after the first procedure.

Procedure Comparisons

What are the differences between facelift methods?

A deep plane facelift adjusts deeper supporting layers for long lasting lift in the mid face and jawline. A SMAS facelift focuses on the superficial muscular layer for moderate improvement. A mini lift targets early signs of aging with shorter downtime. The best method depends on skin laxity and how much change is needed.

See more guidance
What is the difference between Rejuran and HA skin boosters?

Rejuran uses polynucleotide to support skin repair, elasticity, and long term texture improvement. HA skin boosters focus on deep hydration and glow by restoring the skin’s moisture balance. Rejuran improves the foundation of the skin while HA boosters enhance radiance and smoothness.

See more guidance
How do Pico laser and Fraxel differ?

Pico laser targets pigmentation with ultra fast pulses and minimal downtime. It is effective for freckles and uneven tone. Fraxel uses fractional resurfacing to treat texture, scars, and deeper lines. Pico is best for pigmentation while Fraxel is preferred for resurfacing and scarring.

What is the difference between liposuction and fat melting injections?

Liposuction removes fat through a surgical method and creates more noticeable contour changes. Fat melting injections break down small pockets of fat gradually over several sessions. Liposuction is suited for larger areas while injections are best for small contour refinements.

See more guidance
What is the difference between fat grafting and fillers?

Fat grafting uses your own fat to restore volume and can provide long lasting enhancement. Fillers give immediate results with a shorter duration. Fat grafting is ideal for larger volume needs while fillers are suited for precise contouring or smaller adjustments.

See more guidance
What is the difference between non surgical nose shaping and rhinoplasty?

Non surgical nose shaping uses dermal filler to improve height, symmetry, and contour without downtime. Rhinoplasty changes bone and cartilage for permanent structural correction. Fillers suit mild to moderate refinements while rhinoplasty is needed for major shape changes.

See more guidance
How long do dermatology treatment results last?

Results depend on the treatment. Skin boosters usually last several months. Rejuran supports long term improvement when done in a series. Laser results vary by concern but can last longer when paired with sun protection and a stable skincare routine. Maintenance sessions help extend durability.

What is the recovery timeline for double eyelid surgery in Korea?

Double eyelid surgery in Korea usually involves a short initial healing period where swelling and mild bruising are most noticeable in the first 2–3 days, with stitches commonly removed around 5–7 days. Many patients feel comfortable resuming normal activities like work or light social outings within 10–14 days, though full tissue settling and refinement of the eyelid crease may continue over the next 2–3 months as swelling completely resolves and the crease becomes natural looking. Elevating the head, cold compresses, and protective care support smoother early recovery.

I traveled to Seoul with a companion who needed a procedure. The process seemed overwhelming, until someone recommended that we contact Seoul Cosmetic Surgery to help with the arrangements. I reached out to them, and was contacted promptly. SCS did the heavy lifting for us, including: Contacting multiple clinics for estimates and recommendations; providing translation services; helping us finalize appointments; and giving honest feedback regarding our options for everything from hotels to surgeons. Prior to arrival, Dean stayed in contact during our travels to make sure our taxi was waiting for us at the airport. SCS arranged the taxi to and from the airport, as well as transportation to, and translation during, all medical appointments while we stayed in Gangnam. He picked up prescriptions, provided dinner delivered to the hotel on the day of surgery, checked in periodically, and was altogether pleasant to work with without being intrusive. Above and beyond, Dean and Mona Lisa (whom we sadly did not meet in person) arranged for a private tour guide for several hours after recovery. We opted for a shopping tour, and spent the afternoon with Chloe, who was an absolute delight. Having SCS looking out for us took a lot of stress out of our first trip to Korea. I cannot overstate how pleased we are with the service they provided. 10/10!

Incredible Support from Start to Finish – Thank You, SCS Team!

I came to South Korea at age 27, ready to finally make some adjustments to my face that I’d been wanting for a long time. I’ve always struggled with my wide-set, strong jaw and excess skin on my eyelids, which caused hooded eyes. After researching, I decided to undergo face contouring, double eyelid surgery, and a facelift (the facelift was necessary due to the amount of bone being shaved, which would leave excess skin).

From the very beginning, my experience with SCS Medical Tourism was absolutely wonderful. They took care of everything. Dean and Mona personally reached out to several reputable clinics on my behalf and returned with detailed quotes and thorough explanations of what each clinic recommended to help me achieve the results I wanted. It was so reassuring to receive expert opinions without having to navigate the complex Korean medical system on my own.

Once I chose the clinic I felt most comfortable with, I paid my deposit, booked my flights, and flew to Korea. SCS went above and beyond: they arranged all my transport to and from the airport, scheduled every appointment, and made sure I had a support person with me for every consultation and test. Dean and Mona personally accompanied me during pre-op and post-op appointments, making me feel cared for and never alone during the process.

They handled my medication (which is such a relief when you don’t speak the local language), brought my post-surgery food and liquid meals to my hotel, and stayed in touch every day to check how I was doing.

Even after the surgery, they assisted with things I never would have thought of—like helping me claim my tax refund for the medical procedures at the airport, which I didn’t even know was possible. Their knowledge and care made the entire journey so smooth and stress-free.

I’m truly grateful to Dean, Mona, and the whole SCS team for supporting me through such a big life change. Thank you so much for everything—I will always remember your kindness and professionalism. You made me feel safe, informed, and cared for every step of the way.

Thank you Dean, Mona, and the team at Seoul Cosmetic Surgery (SCS) for a safe and comfortable medical trip. Your care and attention made all the difference for me and I can’t recommend you enough! You treated me like family, and I am grateful for your help and care.

I admit being skeptical at first; I was worried your agency would add costs or just be a scam. You were neither and in fact added so much value. After hearing the help you offered which sounded too good to be true, I looked online at various forums, reviews, and even contacted one of the hospitals to confirm you were a trustworthy business. They all agreed your reputation is top notch.

From the beginning, Dean was incredibly helpful in getting quotes and proposed plans from 4 different reputable hospitals. He was able to do in a few days what would have taken me weeks, and with better pricing.

He had information about individual doctors, and while he resisted recommending anyone in particular, did give me the information I needed to find a doctor experienced in doing the kind of anti-aging procedures I was seeking. I would up after some back and forth at a wonderful hospital with the talented doctor who is know for her lifting work.

A SCS hired driver picked me up from the airport and took me to my Airbnb and they accompanied me for my major appointments, including my consultation. They took me to my Airbnb after the overnight at the hospital and got my meds and made sure I had everything I needed.

The next morning. I unexpectedly was unable to see and that lasted for the better part of 4 days. This happened over a long holiday weekend so the hospital was closed. There I was, alone and 5000 miles away from home in a country where I didn’t speak the language, functionally blind, and could not leave my Airbnb or get groceries or food.

But there was Dean, and Mona. They checked in on me several times a day and thanks to “talk-to-text” I was able ti communicate with them and they ordered my meals, groceries, and went over aftercare instructions with me. They treated me like family and I knew they would pick me up and take me to get emergency medical attention if I needed it. It was the sense or security and support I needed to get through the 4 days.

I thought I did this trip alone, except I didn’t. I had Dean and Mona on my side.

I have checked in with @seoul cosmetic surgery clinic on 1st of May 2025 to get laser treatment on my skin. I have very good experience from the appointment and consultation and the doctor who performed the operation. The operating doctor ended up being Dr.Hwang who has tons of experience with cosmetic procedures which is thumbs up for me. On top of the doctor, all the operation includes seduction which patients shall not feel any pain during the operation. Will come back to get another operation very soon. Thank you.
