It is custom to perform this in a Sadang (traditional shrine) on this day. Moreover, there is a variety of food and games that people can enjoy. Tteokguk, is a Korean traditional soup consisting of rice cakes, while folk games like Yut Nori and Neolttwigi are played.

Dano – Spring Festival

Dano is a traditional holiday that falls on the fifth day of June of the lunar Korean calendar. The festival involves rituals where people wish for excellent harvest, and celebrate God. Essentially, the holiday is about celebrating Korean heritage and culture.  

During Dano, foods are prepared such as Surichitteok and Ssuktteok (herb rice cakes). In addition, Angdu Hwachae, a cherry punch, is normally served. Furthermore, Korean women participate in what is called Danojang. 

This is a custom in which the women wash their hair in Changpo, also known as iris water. They also wear traditional clothes and Changpo hairpins. Moreover, there are other festivities people can enjoy. For example, there are traditional swings, Ssireum (Korean wrestling), archery, and other physical activities.

Lastly, travelers can enjoy the Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival. This is also known as the cherry blossom festival in Seoul. It is famous for its 1,886 Korean Cherry trees.

Chuseok – Korean Thanksgiving
